Awesome monitor!

I've only had this monitor for about a week so far, but it is amazing. Super bright, clear, dynamic image. Has a ton of inputs.
The 3008 has inputs for VGA, component, HDMI, 2 DVI inputs, S-Video, and composite. And best of all, it's got an input for DisplayPort which is what the next standard will apparently be. Because it has a built-in scaler, it can handle just about anything you plug into it.
Along with the graphics work I do, games look great also. Playstation 3 looks awesome!
The screen is so large that at normal viewing distances it practically fills your view.
It's also got a USB in, so you have 4 extra USB ports, 2 on the side of the monitor and 2 at the input panel. The side panel also has a built-in card reader.
Very happy with it so far. |

| I love this monitor! It's bright, sharp and BIG! As a graphic designer/web developer it provides the well needed space to really see what I'm working with at home. Imagery is sharp and clear due to the .025 dot pitch, 3000 to 1 contrast ratio and better color gamma than most monitors this size (very important for designers). Although it doesn't compare to the truly incredible monitors designed for high-end graphic design ($5000+ range) at this price it does a great job for my needs! |
Very Flexible monitor

I have two of these monitors, and one of them is in an office I share with someone else. The way we have it setup, sometimes the input is display port, sometimes it is dual-dvi, and sometimes it is vga. It is very easy to use each of these, in a flash, and it all looks good. I really appreciate the adjustments I can make in terms of swiveling the screen for more comfortable viewing or for rotating the screen to show someone across the room the result of some investigation. I also appreciate the built in USB hub since I use it primarily with a macbook with only two usb ports.
I'm considering buying a third monitor now. |

| The Dell UltraSharp 3008WFP 30-inch minitor is great. Has all the connections and MY new HP system picked it right up. I love this monitor and the shipping was fast and arrived when it was scheduled. |
Overheating Problems
|
| Review Date: July 26, 2010 |

Just bought and set up the monitor and noticed it was running extremely hot on top and it shut down after being on for 2 hours. The ambient room temperature was 80 degrees, hardly sweltering hot. When reading on the Dell community site, there were numerous other complaints of same problem. The center vent holes are placed lower on the back then the top, so the heat is probably trapped inside the top 2" section, creating the problem. I turned the brightness down from 75 to 60% and put a small table-top fan next to it, focusing the air into the side vents which then flow out through the top. That solved the heat problem and no more shutting down. This is a major design flaw, uncalled for in a $1500 monitor that is bound to cause early bulb and electronics failure. I ordered two small USB fans to place over each side vent to solve the issue, but they should be be needed or have been built into the unit. The picture quality is great and it looks good and the features are nice, making it a 2 star in my book. A very disappointing showing for a premium monitor.
